My name is Marta, and I have been a freelance translator and interpreter since 2006. My language combinations are English, Spanish, Romanian and Italian, which is my mother tongue.
Translating between Spanish, English and Italian takes more than just fluency — it also requires knowledge of the subject area the text belongs to. I currently live in Spain, where I work as a translator and interpreter for different Spanish and foreign agencies, and not only for Italian.
I translate all kinds of texts, with special emphasis on legal and technical translation.
As professional translators, we follow three basic principles. First, absolute respect for deadlines. Second, clear communication with the client before, during and after delivery. Finally, accuracy in grammar, vocabulary, spelling and register.
I use Trados as a translation tool to ensure consistent and accurate terminology. It also makes translation faster and more efficient. Currently, I use the 2017 version and update it regularly to meet my clients’ needs.
Education and training
After graduating in Translation and Interpreting in Italy in 2005 with a degree in Spanish and English, I spent some time studying and working abroad in Scotland, Romania and Spain.
To qualify as a professional translator, I completed the Official Master’s Degree in Translation and Interpreting for Public Services at the University of Alcalá de Henares in 2007. There, I specialised in legal and medical translation and interpreting.
That same year, my curiosity about Romanian led me to study the language and culture in depth, since the university also offered it. After this first contact in Alcalá de Henares, I completed the six-year programme at the Official Language School in Madrid. In addition, I travelled to Romania several times to strengthen my knowledge.

I enjoy translating everything, especially professional medical translations. For each text, I creatively look for the best solutions. The goal is to create something new that still conveys all the content, meaning and strength of the original.
